Day 01: Delhi / Lucknow (Lucknow Shatabdi at 0615 / 1230 hrs)

In the morning at 0500 hrs transfer to New Delhi railway station to board Lucknow Shatabdi express to Lucknow. Arrive Lucknow at 1230 hrs and transfer to hotel, welcome drink on arrival and check in at Hotel. 1330 hrs Lunch at hotel and later proceed to visit Lucknow including:
Chota Imambara:
Chhota Imambada, the Hussainabad Imambada was built between 1837 and 1842 by Mohammed Ali Shah. The structure houses the tombs of Mohammed Ali Shah and his mother. The Imambada has a white dome and numerous turrets and minarets. Verses in Arabic decorate the walls of the mausoleum. The interiors are adorned with chandeliers, gilded mirrors, colorful stucco, the King’s throne and ornate tazia or replicas of the tombs at Karbala. The Imambada also encloses a tank with small imitations of the Taj Mahal on each side. A clock tower estimated to be 67 metres high overlooks the Hussainabad tank. During Muharram, the Imambada is illuminated giving it a wonderful look.
Residency:
Lying in ruins near Hazratganj area, which is the centre of the city, the Lucknow Residency reminds one of the British presence in this city of Nawabs some two centuries ago. The Residency was built in 1780-1800 for the British Resident in Avadh. During the Mutiny of 1857, the Residency was besieged by the rebels and it became the centre of the conflict in this area. The compound inside the Residency/’s walls is now a historic monument. The Treasury served as an arsenal during the Mutiny. The residency, to the northeast has tykhanas or underground rooms used in summers.
Return to hotel around 1900 hrs at hotel and fresh n up for Dinner. Dinner will be provided at 2000 hrs.

Day 02: Lucknow

In the morning after breakfast, we will proceed for the sightseeing tour of Lucknow including:
Bara Imambara:
Built in the year 1784 by the champion of charity Nawab Asaf ud Daula, the Bara Imambara provided food to the famine stricken subjects of the Nawab. The monument is known for its simplicity of style, sheer proportion and symmetry. To the left of the Imambara is a grand mosque. To the right is a row of cloisters concealing a huge well known as the Baoli.
Return to hotel for Lunch. Lunch will be provided at 1400 hrs at hotel.
After Lunch proceed to visit:
Rumi Darwaza:
Apart from the Bada Imambada, Asaf-ud-Daula also built the 60-feet-high Rumi Darwaza to create employment during the famine of 1784. The ornate gateway is said to be a replica of one of the gates of Constantinople.
Clock Tower:
The beautiful clock tower, constructed in 1887, is the tallest Clock Tower in India and one of the finest examples of British Architecture in India. The 221 feet tall structure was erected by Nawab Nasir-ud-din Haider to mark the arrival of Sir George Couper, Ist Lieutenant Governor of United province of Avadh in the year 1887.
We will also visit Govt. Museum if time permits.
Return to hotel around 1900 hrs at hotel and fresh n up for Dinner. Dinner will be provided at 2000 hrs.

Day 03: Lucknow / Delhi (Lucknow Shatabdi at 1535 / 2205 hrs)

In the morning after breakfast at 0800 hrs, will proceed to visit Dilkusha Garden and La Martiniere School.
Late in the afternoon return to hotel for Lunch. Lunch will be provided at 1300 hrs and later transfer to Lucknow railway station to board Lucknow Shatabdi at 1535 hrs to Delhi and arrival at Delhi at 2205 hrs.
